Life

Girl with a pearl earing - Johannes Vermeer
Girl with a Pearl Earring (1665) - Vermeer

Life is like a waking dream,

Ripples on a fading stream,

It has laughter, it has crying—

A beginning and an ending.

It's dear like a quiet dove,

Longing for his mate's true love.

He knows well that it could shatter,

Still he risks all for the matter.
