It was upon a quiet night

As graying clouds raced past the moon,

A sage and pupil made their way

Through a deep and darkened wood.

Among  the thicket and the pines,

They traveled the uncertain trail,

But after wandering the night,

They finally settled for rest....

When Horae’s icy sheets blanket the dale
And branches shed their frozen tears,
When Earth is covered with her icy veil,
We mortals run from Time’s cold sneers.

Yet let us not run from such cold deceived
As our tears turn to wintry pearls;

Let winter's denizens weather ea...

One morning, I found Lilacs in the rain:

The early lark had ceased to swirl and sing

And the scampering squirrels had ceased to play,

But I lingered by those Lilacs, weeping.

Each one seemed too sweet to outlive the morn,

Thickening the air with their dying breath;

About the mists and the rains?

Among the alpine crests

And mountains’ crystal streams?

A Chinese mountain man

Trecks up the steep defiles.

And with him follows closely

His pupil short of breath.

They walk among the pines,

Which rise from every crag.
